Yesterday Edith Bowman - who surely has to be the most unlikely gossip source ever - tweeted that Steve Jones had bagged the job of male host on the US version of The X Factor. Now Simon Cowell’s brother, Tony Cowell, has shared the same news on his Twitter page.
Tony Cowell used the micro-blogging site to say, “Good to see that Steve Jones and @NicoleScherzy have been confirmed by Fox as hosts for US X Factor! Good team!” Of course we can’t be 100% sure if this little announcement is in fact true, but the brother of Simon Cowell has to be better placed than most to get the inside scoop on all things X Factor.
To add further fuel to the speculation fire, The News Of The World also reports today that Welsh hunk Steve has landed what has to be the most coveted job on TV. According to their source, “It’s the start of a huge career for him. He will get America’s housewives tuning in. But it’s a snub for Dermot.”
Ah yes, what of Dermot O’Leary? We’re actually really happy that Dermot will be staying with the UK version of the show, but it is a shame for him that he’s not getting the chance to launch his career in the US. However a source on our version of The X Factor has revealed that Dermot has no hard feelings; “Dermot is cool with it, he is still presenting the biggest show in the UK.”
