Fans of beautiful but bitchy people, beaches and reality TV have cause for celebration – Channel 4’s ace series Shipwrecked is making a return to our screens.
The show, which takes a group of young, attractive, spoiled and often argumentative people and sees how they all survive on a tropical island, is looking for a new cast for a revamped version of the programmes. Filming will take place in the Cook Islands, and a 15-episode series will run on T4 some time later this year. Which is just perfect, a bit of sunny, trashy, escapist TV is just what we need to help cure the winter blues.
Head of T4 and music Neil McCallum said of the show’s return, "As one of the pioneering reality shows, Shipwrecked has always proved to be a firm favourite amongst T4 fans. So it's great to be bringing the show back this autumn, with its refreshed format and new back-to-basics approach to island life."
While the show’s executive producer Tayte Simpson has given applicants an idea of what to expect, "The rules and format will be kept tightly under wraps, but we can say that applicants should be prepared for the experience to be tougher than ever... Yes it's paradise, but this is no summer holiday."
The last series of Shipwrecked aired back in 2009, anyone brave enough to apply for the new series should visit www.channel4.co.uk/takepart
