There certainly wasn’t any biscuit scoffing, sampling beauty products or schmoozing round Paris on last night’s Apprentice. Lord Sugar went back to basics, meeting the final six at a warehouse in North London with simple instructions: spend £250 on stock, sell it at a profit, then by “smelling what’s selling”, reinvest in whatever’s popular so they could make even more cash the following day.
So, how could they all have got it so wrong?
In Team Venture, PM Natasha bickered with Susan the whole time, telling her she was “embarrassing herself” when Susan started getting a bit high-pitched and accusing Natasha of not selling anything. Super Jim redeemed himself (we’d starting thinking he was a bit too smooth) by charming passers-by into buying his £10 umbrellas. The only thing stopping him from selling them to every single person in the world was Natasha misunderstanding the point of the task and being too slow in letting him replenish his stock.
Helen and Tom were under the iron grip of Melody in Team Logic, but she seemed to do such a bad job of it that Helen put herself forward to take over as PM half way through. But as they slogged around town trying to sell rubbish-looking duvets, Tom impressed everyone by doing the impossible and shifting boxes of nodding dogs… Who still buys them?
In the Boardroom, Lord Sugar turned into an angry dad and gave Natasha a right telling-off for not reinvesting her cash, but even after slapping a fine on them they made more profit. He didn’t let them have their treat of a helicopter prize, though. Ha! Serves them right.
After a lot of bickering and finger pointing, Shugs finally gave Melody the boot – but was it the right decision? Did Natasha have a lucky escape? Is Jim planning on charming his way to world domination? Tell us what you think.
