Now this is some genius casting – the world’s poshest model is going to star in the world’s poshest teen drama. Yep, Liz Hurley is going to appear alongside our favourite New York rich kids in Gossip Girl (note to the GG writers: she better not snog Chuck, or we’ll be furious with jealousy).
Liz with join the cast for the upcoming fifth series, playing a character called Diana Payne. Executive producers Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran announced to TvLine that Liz’s character is “a sexy, smart, self-made media mogul and all-round force to the reckoned with", adding that, "Diana's entrance on the Upper East Side will change the lives of all our characters, including – and especially – Gossip Girl herself.”
Now, hold on just a second, this sounds pretty major. Actual Gossip Girl is going to be rocked by this Diana character? Does this mean we’ll get some hints about the true identity of Gossip Girl? Eeek!
The show’s producers also said some nice things about Liz, commenting that, “Elizabeth's sense of humour, intelligence and beauty fit the GG world perfectly. We feel very fortunate to have her." We imagine Liz is feeling pretty happy about her new job. We’re certainly a little jealous.
