It seems that the Desperate Housewives of Wisteria Lane have been dubbed "Wisteria Lame", as ABC sent out a press release confirming that the show's 8th series would be its last. Sad face.
Paul Lee, the President of ABC Entertainment, told US Weekly how proud the network was of what the show has accomplished, saying,
“It’s an iconic show, we are so proud of it… You’re gonna see this really cool take that moved me every time I saw it.”
The show started back in 2003 and shot Teri Hatcher back to prime-time telly fame (though to us she’ll always be Lois Lane) but viewing figures have taken a bit of a dive in recent years as interest waned. However, if you’re just getting into the show, producers have announced that the last series will be accessible to both “loyal fans” and viewers who may not be entirely familiar with its history.
The press release gave a few teasers as to what the characters will be getting up. We’ll get to see the girls trying to cover up the death of Gaby’s (Eva Longoria) evil stepdad, Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and Tom’s marriage fall apart and Renee (Vanessa Williams) digging her claws into a “sexy new neighbour”. Sounds like a lot of entertainment to pack into one season, we can’t wait!
