Tess Daly TV presenter-turned-author

Tess Daly’s adding another string to her model/TV presenter bow – she’s now an author, too.

The Strictly Come Dancing host has already released a non-fiction book on motherhood, but now she’s turned her hand to fiction and plans to release her debut novel on 13 October.

The Camera Never Lies has been inspired by the years Tess spent both on camera and behind the scenes, and the novel follows model-turned-breakfast TV presenter (hmm, where does Tess get her inspiration?) Britt Baxter as she becomes the nation’s sweetheart, only to be betrayed by someone she thought she could trust.  The press release says, "The Camera Never Lies" will keep you hooked as Britt’s funny, poignant and all-too-believable story plays out against a backdrop of glamour, ambition and deception.”

Sounds good, so we’re expecting lots of juicy, salacious stuff from lovely Tess.

The lady herself seems very excited to be dipping her toe into the literary world, saying, “I have experienced first-hand the hilarious and often outrageous goings on in the worlds of television and fashion. My novel reflects this, and is fast-paced and funny and filled with glamour and glitz."

So, whaddya think? Are you dying to see what Tess can do when she puts pen to paper, or are you fed up with presenters having a crack at novel writing?

We're so bloody obsessed with "celebrities" nowadays that any numbskull model/TV presenter/reality TV "star" can get a book published and idiots buy it in their droves. A very good friend of mine has been trying to get a literary agent for ages but had to give up and self-publish so it really sticks in her craw. Debster, has your friend tried self- publishing through Amazon?

I've read her book about motherhood, despite not even having one on the way, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'll give this one a go too :)

That's true Zoo, my mate gave up his job to write a novel, he let me read the first 3 chapters and they were really good, but you can't get published unless you have an agent, and it's almost impossible to get one of those to read your synopsis (they wont read the whole book). He out a year of himself into that and got nowhere, while the likes of Jordan are topping the bestseller lists.

I find Tess Daly monumentally annoying and fake. Also think its a bit shady when someone who was a model turned gurning presenter thinks 'oh, might write a book' and gets it published solely because she's a household name. Lots of people who want to be a writer all their life and work hard at it never get published so they must be f*cked off with this kind of thing.
