This might be the best news we've heard all day (sorry Beyonce). Award-winning comedy geniuses Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are going to be resurrecting their Absolutely Fabulous characters for three 30-minute special episodes to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. That's right, International PR guru Edina Monsoon and booze-soaked magazine editor Patsy Stone are going to be back in our lives! Yay!
The BBC have announced the return of Ab Fab saying that while it might be a few years down the line, our comedy faves are still the same. Eddy is still trying every trend going (all at once, obvs) and drinking as much champers as she can possibly get and Patsy is still living the (very) high life. We can only imagine the type of things she's been getting up to...
Julia Sawalha returns as uptight daughter Saffy trying desperately to make her mother grow up. Jane Horrocks is back as daft PA Bubble and June Whitfield makes a welcome return as Eddy's mother.
The Ab Fab crew will no doubt get up to all kinds of fun. We've heard Eddy and Patsy even have their own special part to play on the 2012 Olympics. Hmm. The hurdles maybe? Or the 100 metres? Patsy probably tries to smoke to Olympic torch.
Jennifer Saunders said: "Its great that we are able to celebrate our 20th birthday with all the original cast. Like a good bottle of champagne we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle. Last week when we started filming in dear old West London, it was as if nothing had changed. It was raining. Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR."
We cannot wait for the return of the incredible series! Bring on the bad Kanye-style tracksuits and inappropriate age-gap snogging!
