Reading the words “Sex And The City” and “Gossip Girl” in one headline is pretty damn exciting, isn’t it?
Want to know how the two are connected? We’ll tell you…
The SATC franchise is expanding. After talk of a movie version of Candace Bushnell’s The Carrie Diaries, it’s now been confirmed that a TV series of Carrie’s teen years is being made, and two of the people who make Gossip Girl are going to be in charge.
We already know that GG executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have what it takes to make glossy, sexy, witty, well-dressed TV, so we can’t see how their TV version of The Carrie Diaries will be anything but a-mazing.
According to Deadline, The Carrie Diaries TV show was pitched to the US network The CW (which is home to Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Supernatural) on Friday and was immediately snapped up. Yes! SATC’s original home HBO was never considered as a network for the new series as The Carrie Diaries is very much a aimed at teenagers.
Former Sex And The City writer Amy Harris (who currently works on Gossip Girl) will be in charge of adapting The Carrie Diaries for TV.
We are OFFICIALLY exited about this!
