You must be a bit bonkers if you’re reading this unaware of the supposed ‘rivalrly’ between two of our all time fave talent shows (which just so happen to be shown on the same night); The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.
The shows have fought over ratings for years but according to Strictly frontman and recently knighted legend Bruce Forsyth, there’s no bad blood between them.
Bruce says he was approached by the notoriously grumpy Simon Cowell at the Pride Of Britain Awards last year where they both confirmed that the rivalry was all “banter”, lads will be lads eh? Bruce says,
"Simon Cowell came up to me last year [and] said, 'It's all banter, isn't it?' and I said, 'Of course it is’…He was meant to have said that Strictly is only for the old people and it should be put on in the afternoon so the viewers can watch it and then have a little rest afterwards before watching their show.”
Well, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of friendly ribbing is there! Despite being in the business since the dawn of time, 83-year-old Brucey says he still gets nervous about appearing on stage,
"I always get edgy…I don't like people coming up and talking to me. I like to get in my own little meditation…I have a bit of a glazed look in the eye, wondering whether it's going to be all right and thinking about what I'm going to do. Then I do a little hop before I walk on and the other me takes over."
You would’ve thought that the star might've picked up tips to calm his nerves by this stage in his career, but you know what they say, you can’t teach a 83-year-old dog new tricks. Come on then Heatworld citizens, which of the two shows are you tuning into?
