It’s been nine weeks of bust-ups, secret snogs, big crushes and just general mayhem at Big Brother house at Elstree studios in London - but it all came to a dramatic conclusion last night as Aaron Allard was crowned the official 2011 winner. But unlike in previous years, it seems not everyone was happy with the voting outcome, because when the 30-year-old finally left the house at the end of the evening, he was greeted with a whole bunch of boos from the waiting audience.
In fact, the crowd had actually been so vocal about their dislike for the housemate throughout the final show, that he’d assumed he’d be going much earlier in the evening - after all, he'd had to listen to all the negativity from inside the house. Although it’s entirely possible the audience were just particularly miffed with Aaron because he walked out waving a see-through suitcase which held the £50,000 prize money – we’d be a bit jel’ in that circumstance too!
But (the now rather rich) Mr Allard didn’t let all the bad vibes get to him.
“I’m worried that my mum’s phone bill is huge but I don’t know,” he joked with Brian Dowling in his winners’ interview, before admitting he’d still like to get together with ex-housemate Faye. “I just really like her,” he explained. “Meeting Faye, Harry and Mark” was definitely a highlight.
Aaron also admitted he would be spending his huge prize on his little son – and thankfully that was probably the only sentence he said that didn’t end up in a whole load of awkward boos.
You win some, you lose some, eh Aaron? But at least you got £50K for your troubles!
Celebrity Big Brother will return in January 2012.
