It might be sunny and bright out side this morning here in London, but for some it seems Saturday might be looking a bit gloomy. Because according to the Daily Mirror, Daybreak presenters Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles have both been axed from the ITV breakfast show due to those dreaded ‘dwindling ratings’.
A source confirmed, “They ran out of time to turn Daybreak around. The advertising numbers had fallen off a cliff because Adrian and Christine were such a turn-off. In today’s climate that was unacceptable.”
Ooh, how mean! We thought Christine was actually rather welcoming on a cold Monday at 6am. Were we the only ones? Although can anyone really beat the wonder that was GMTV?
Surprisingly, there’s been no denial from either camp. In fact, Christine took to Twitter this morning just to comment on how she didn't quite like the headlines today. “Morning, what a lovely headline to wake up to,” she tweeted. “My sarcasm comes across in this tweet I hope x”.
Of course, if the rumours are completely true then we’ll be seeing Christine and Adrian taking up a position on the sofa on BBC Breakfast apparently. In fact, the same in-the-know source claimed they might be on the show “within weeks”.
But luckily for Christine, she’s already bagged Holly Willoughby’s presenter spot on 2012’s Dancing On Ice – because Holly’s off to present The Voice. Bleakes tweeted, “Holly is a legend and she's a tough act to try and follow so feeling really nervous but incredibly excited Xx”
So it’s not like anyone’s out of a job then? Phew! That would have been far too sad and dramatic. Now what we want to know is, who do you want to see take over on the Daybreak couch? We wouldn’t mind more of that Dan Lobb every morning…
