What do you do when you’re faced with the tough decision to send one of two X Factor finalists home? Listen to a sly whisper from another judge, apparently!
There is no doubt that X Factor USA proved uncomfortable viewing after 13 year old power house Rachel Crow broke down after being sent home.
Following an intense sing off between bottom two Rachel Crow and Marcus Canty, Nicole Scherzinger was left with the final decision.
Paula supports Nicole by telling her what to do
After a lot of mumbling and stumbling the former Pussy Cat doll looked to her fellow judge for support and a new video courtesy of TMZ with raised audio shows Paula Abdul prompting Nicole saying “just let it go to the deadlock.”
Realising her X Factor dream was finished, Rachel broke down in tears, crying hysterically on the floor. With the reaction of a slug, Steve Jones attempted to help her up from the floor but was relieved when her mum rushed to her aid along with judge mentor Simon Cowell. Emotional Rachel cried out to her mum “Mommy you promise me?”
Proving uncomfortable viewing, Nicole joined them onstage weeping awkwardly in the background. After being asked to comment by Steve, guilty Nicole turned away, adding to the thick tension on stage.
How old is too young for the X Factor?
Controversy sparked around the minimum age of the contestants. In comparison to the USA X Factor, the British rules state the age limit is slightly higher at 16.
UK judge Gary Barlow even insists that is too young “Sixteen is just too young to be in a competition with this kind of pressure.”
