It was nearly a year ago now that rumours started flying around Hollywood that Blake Lively might play a young Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex And The City prequel, The Carrie Diaries. Now, a fresh flurry of gossip has started about who will play the lead role in Candace Bushnell’s new project.
It’s already been confirmed that The Carrie Diaries will be a TV series on American network the CW (which is home to Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill) and that Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will be at the helm. We’ve now discovered that the new (or old) Miss Bradshaw, is being described as a "quirky, charming, witty 16 year old," who unfortunately has "a complete lack of knowledge about love, sex and relationships." Not forgetting, of course, a growing love of all things fashion.
While Blake may still be in the running, there are now some new, slightly younger names being thrown into the mix. Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) could have a big year ahead of her and certainly has the fashion-savvy dress-sense to play Carrie. Julia Roberts’ niece and Wild Chid star Emma Roberts has been also rumoured though, as has High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale.
What we want to know though, is who do you think should be cast? Do you think Blake is the right choice or would you give someone else the opportunity? Could Dianna Agron ditch Glee for the glammed-up New York life? Or perhaps they should pick a lesser-known actress like Julia Garner, who will be starring alongside Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower this year. Let us know who you think should play our favourite fashionista below…
