TOWIE meets Downton Abbey! Sort of...

When it comes to our fave telly programmes, it doesn’t get much better than TOWIE and Downton Abbey. Now, imagine the world of vajazzles and fake tans, merging with the world of crinolines and walks in the country. Well, thanks to BBC Comedy Online, we can see the result, in the brilliant spoof The Only Way is Wessex!

Now we can’t stop imaging the casts of TOWIE and Downton swapping roles though… Imagine Lauren Goodger as Lady Mary! Joey Essex as Matthew Crawley! Or, Lord Grantham having a boogie in Sugar Hut for that matter… Gemma Collins would be right in there.

TOWIE may be back for its fourth series, but elsewhere, it looks like the execs at Channel 4 are having to make decisions over their reality shows. While Made in Chelsea has been a hit, a second series of Desperate Scousewives hasn’t been commissioned and it looks like the show could be axed.

According to sources, if channel bosses are forced to “pick a team” it looks like it’ll be Team Chelsea all the way. An insider says to The Daily Star, “We had hoped Desperate Scousewives would really give TOWIE a run for its money. But sadly that’s not been the case. For whatever reason people have just not warmed to the characters and there hasn’t been a great buzz.”

While it’s bad news for the Scousewives, “Made In Chelsea, on the other hand, is really popular. People seemed fascinated by their posh lives.” We certainly are! When we’re not sampling our own champagne and caviar that is… (We wish).

What do you think of the decision to choose Made in Chelsea over Desperate Scousewives? Do you prefer TOWIE or Made In Chelsea?
