Oh hello good news on a Tuesday evening! ITV chiefs have just announced that Gary Barlow will return to The X Factor 2012 judging panel. Which means we, the humble viewers, will get to see the Take That hottie grace our screens every weekend for another entire series of the show. Happy times, yeah?
The announcement was made by Simon Cowell on Twitter. He wrote, “It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.”
Gaz Baz (sorry Robbie, we’re stealing your nickname for the man) is the first judge to confirmed for the new series of the show, which will be on our screens later in the summer. But auditions for singers will begin on 8 May – which means we should know who the rest of the panel line up will be pretty soon.
Gary of course is full of delight about the whole thing. He explained, “I'm thrilled to be back and really looking forward to working with The X Factor team again. The fact that a superstar could just walk out on that stage is very exciting.”
The Take That star made his mark on the show last year, when he took over Simon Cowell's coveted position - alongside other judges Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh. And of course he mentored Marcus Collins who was the second place winner of the show.
And let’s just hope Gaz does find us that superstar he speaks of. And maybe talk a bit less about mugs and more about, well, anything else. Either way though, we’ll probably be watching. It’s Gary Barlow after all isn’t it? Excellent news! Well done The X Factor team.
