The Bachelor might be everyone’s favourite Channel 5 dating show (if you think it is not your favourite Channel 5 dating show: name another Channel 5 dating show. Name a better Channel 5 dating show.), but it could be no more after Spencer Matthews’ disastrous stint on the show.
According to The Sun, the second series of the show will be the last, after Spencer Matthews failed to live up to the standards of light entertainment set for him by Gavin Henson. It also didn’t especially help that neither Spencer or Gavin stuck with their chosen winners of the show for too long afterwards either, with Spencer getting back with Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson while Gavin held hands with Jordan last year.
“The show didn’t do hugely well last year and Channel 5 are now giving it a rest,” a source told the paper. “But it is a good format and the owners have been sounding out other broadcasters to see if anyone else is up for taking it on.
But we don’t know where this idea of it not doing hugely well came from. For instance: Former winner ¬ (for want of a better word we are calling them ‘winners’ ) Khloe Evans got off with TOWIE’s Tom Pearce and then tweeted “#louiseandspencer” immediately after the final, while Carianne Barlow later described Gavin Henson “boring, weird and spineless”. How can you not commission drama like this, Channel 5? Shame on you. Shame.
