In these troubling times, it might be hard to get your heart to bleed for someone who swans around in private jets, but we do feel a little bit sorry for Tara Palmer-Tomkinson after hearing about the ordeal she went through over the weekend. Tara was returning to her home in the Swiss Alps (*chokes on Tesco Value croissant*) after a designer shopping splurge in London (*cries into Primark handkerchief*) when her pal’s private jet (*bangs head on ramshackle cardboard desk*) was busted by customs officers and sniffer dogs. Tara and her three fellow passengers were subjected to an intensive three-hour search when they arrived at a private airport close to Zurich. “They were terrified,” says a source in the know (perhaps one of the dogs. We do like a talking doggy). “The officers started pulling everything on the plane apart, apparently looking for drugs. The customs guys went through everything, pulling apart their luggage, clothes and even searching them. Tara was totally distraught about the whole thing. She was made to feel like a criminal and subjected to a particularly invasive search. Only when they were finished were the party permitted to leave. Nothing was found. The next day the head of Swiss police called to say sorry for what had happened. Apparently, he was very apologetic.” Poor Tara – still, we suppose there had to be a downside to being so public about her colourful past.
