As you may have noticed, we have a brand new and very shiny and sparkly heatworld.com *jumps onto desk. Headbangs to Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody* However, we understand that many of you are feeling a bit lost and confused with all this new stuff to explore, so we thought we'd help you out by answering some of the most frequently asked questions. Have a look through and then please use the comments boxes below to tell us if we've missed anything. Thanks!
1) I don't know how to find the latest stories?
The new heatworld homepage has been designed to give you a snapshot of the entire site and act as a map to show you where to go. We want to continue to add lots more content to your favourite channels (eg Celeb News, Star Style, Entertainment, X Factor and Fun Stuff) and offer you a greater variety of exciting things to look at, whether it's a story about Katie Price's latest antics, an amazing dress we've found in Topshop, a hilarious video of a cow mowing a lawn or the latest brilliant movie trailer. We'll still add all the biggest and best stories into the red Breaking News carousel you can see at the top of the homepage, and the remaining content will be added straight into the appropriate channel. If you're only interested in one channel, say, for example, Celeb News, then you can bookmark the Celeb News channel as your homepage by selecting it from the top menu and then clicking CTRL+D.
2) I can't vote properly
There is currently an issue for anyone looking at heatworld using IE6 (Internet Explorer). Basically there are some goblins (in Christmas hats, we hope) running riot and moving the SUBMIT button to the wrong place. We are working on catching these naughty little things, and the vote should be back in full working order next week.
3) My comments have disappeared
If we deem what you've written to be unnecessarily rude and offensive, we will wag our finger at you and remove it. For another look at the terms and conditions on the site, you can click here, but basically the best thing to do is play nice, people!
4) I can't log-in with my old username
When you originally registered on heatworld, you may have used case-sensitive capital letters in your username. If you've forgotten you exact username, you can e-mail the heatgeek at geek@heatworld.com and he will send it back to you.
5) My photos have gone
We sent you all a little e-mail a little while ago warning that the forums and photos would be lost when we migrated (for the winter) from one server to another. If you didn't save them at this time then we're afraid they are – gasp! – gone forever. But don't worry, you can upload some nice new ones now.
6) Where are the forums?
Apparently we're in the noughties now (we're a bit slow on the uptake), and forums are, like, soooo last decade. To make things nicer and move with the times, we suggest you head over to Twitter and chat to each other and us on there. You can also talk amongst yourselves in the comments boxes below each story.
7) I can't view videos on the site
Again, we blame the gremlins for this one, but according to the technical folk it's an issue they're working on. Try a different browser such as Safari or Firefox for now. The videos should all be back and in working order next week.
8) Where is my Profile page?
Once you've logged into heatworld, simply click on your name at the top right of the home page to access your profile. You can add pictures and edit your information in there, and we're also working on loads of exciting new features for you which will be revealed over the next few months.
9) What are the benefits of the new site?
As well as looking pretty damn good (seriously, Olly Murs has got nothing on us), the new heatworld should be faster, more reliable and have a much greater variety of content. During the design process we did talk to lots of you about what you wanted on the site, and we've done our best to include everything. Please remember, too, that this is just the beginning. This is YOUR site and we want it to be the very best it can be.
