If you're anything like heatworld and you haven't had a decent date since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was at the cinema, then you've probably, like heatworld, tried every avenue open to you. Online dating? Tick. Blind dates? Tick. Meeting random man in bar and thinking he's God's gift only to later realise alcohol does not, in fact, perform miracles? Tick. One thing we've never been brave enough to try is speed dating, but apparently it's the new way of doing things. To promote all things Valentine and encourage us singletons to get out there - as well as showing off their all-new Sony Ericsson W995 Pink handset with Love Match application - The Carphone Warehouse will host a one-off in-store speed dating event on London's Oxford Street on Thursday (11 February) at 4.30pm. Hosted by the very lovely Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries, it's a great chance to meet a special someone...or you can just attempt to chat up Matt and Darren, obvs.
When we quizzed the boys about their dating experience yesterday, Matt admitted that in the past he's been out with more than one girl with "really bad breath" (ewww), while Daz took out a girl who didn't speak once on their date. Not one single word. Interesting. "We give off that whole love vibe," Darren jokingly told us. "But I'm quite shy when it comes to lurrrve." Take that as a challenge, ladies. So, do they have any tips for a successful date? According to Darren, it's all about being yourself - and paying for things. "If you ask her to pay, then it just sends out completely the wrong message," he explains. "But at the same time, if you're a girl, offer to pay." We think we get it... And Matt? "Be honest, don't sleep with them on the first night and take a mint. For God's sake take a mint!" To get even more dating advice from Matt and Darren and possibly your mitts on a brand new phone, make sure you come down to the event. heatworld will also be there, and we'll happily let you laugh at our pathetic attempts at speed-dating.
The event will take place at The Carphone Warehouse, 161-163 Oxford Street, London, next Thursday (11th February) at 4.30pm.
