Princess Beatrice’s hat wasn’t just bad. It was so awful that it’s become an internet joke spreading far and wide. Wearing that ridiculous hat might possibly be the most famous thing Princess Beatrice will ever do.
The hat has started popping up in all sorts of other places like in this picture of President Obama’s war-room. We have to admit, that in large numbers the hat sort of works.
Philip Treacy (who created the hat) had this to say about it.
"My inspiration was beauty and elegance. It's a 21st century royal wedding. No, they didn't tell me [what they wanted] because I've known them for a long time and I wanted them to look gorgeous and beautiful. Gorgeous and beautiful can be open to interpretation. I thought they looked gorgeous and beautiful. But no one is crying if anyone didn't."
