A little over a week ago, heatworld trotted off to the Apple store in Convent Garden to meet Apple’s newest babies, the brand new iPod touch, nano and shuffle.
We’ve been obsessively playing with our new toys ever since. Apple’s tag line for their revamped music players is “Engineered for maximum funness”. They should also add in maximum cuteness…
For the first time you can select the colour of your touch, as they’re now available in a range of vibrant, pretty shades. The touch is also feather light – which is perfect for anyone who, like us, has a bag that’s already stuffed to the point of causing back injuries.
The teeny tiny nano and shuffle are also remarkably cute and pretty – we know these things shouldn’t be important, but they so are - the candy colours are irresistible.

As for the geeky stuff, like new functions and specifications – there’s plenty of exciting new innovations on offer, particularly from the touch. It basically does everything that the iphone 5 does bar making phone calls.
We’ve loved taking panoramic pictures, the increased speed for game playing, and the iSight camera which will make all your pictures look like celeb snapper Rankin took them. While the new passbook – which keeps all your tickets for stuff like gigs and flights – is like having a tiny PA in a phone.
Even the newly designed headphone are impressive, they’re shaped so that they’ll actually stay in your ears and there’s even some strategically placed “acoustic vents” so your music sounds crisper and sharper than ever before.
The only bummer? The new charger… the old 30-pin connector has been replaced with something sleeker and 80% smaller (!), but this means having to purchase an adaptor if you want to use an of your existing accessories.
We’re just gutted that we’re going to have to hand our new toys back…
