If you’ve not caught up on SOS Island yet, stop everything and get on over to www.sos-island.com, and watch eight YouTube-loving contestants from around the world take on a series of survivalist tasks armed with nothing but their wits, a bootcamp’s worth of training, a Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom and a GALAXY NX to help them. They build rafts. They fall in the sea. They very slowly make fires while shouting. It’s ace.
Anyway, throughout the 12-week show, contestants were competing for coconuts (coconuts, in this instance, mean ‘points’), with the contestant who ended the series with the most coconuts – plus the results of the public vote – walking away with a $100,000 stake in their very own tropical island.
And the winner has just been announced! Graham Hughes – the island’s scousest contestant – has been declared the winner, after his antics on the island (as well as his YouTube channel of four years, which saw him travel the world without flying) helped him win the public vote.
He said: “This is truly a dream come true. I put everything I had into this competition with hopes that I'd go all the way. My next challenge is deciding where to go with the prize money.” You could buy us an island, Graham. That is an option.
