Lembit Opik has been the latest celeb to be voted out of the jungle after his politician’s smoothness and awful attempts at humour failed to win over either his campmates or the public. But there are no hard feelings from the wonky-mouthed one; in fact he would have loved to stay on, because being in the jungle was such an amazing learning experience.
After finding himself in the bottom two with Linford Christie, Lembit was ordered to leave just 14 days in to the show. He told Ant and Dec, “The experience exceeded my expectations in a good way. I now know I can survive the jungle. Secondly, I know I can survive in times of relative hardship. I could have easily done this experience for a few more days. I feel good about what I learned and I didn't want that to end. If you go into this like I have, you learn so much.”
And despite what you may think about McKeith’s now-legendary fainting episodes, Lembit insists she’s for real – and he even sounds like he respects her for it. “Gillian has had an incredible journey and she basically was phobic about insects, confined spaces, water.... in other words everything this show is about. And eventually she tried to conquer it and in my view she has been an absolute star. In my view she's shown people they can conquer their fears.”
Lembit also revealed that being bitten was a snake was his most intense moment, because he’d always had a terrible fear of them. You’d think being engaged to a Cheeky Girl would give you all the experience you need of cuddling up to thin slimy things.
