Katy Perry don’t half cause a lot of trouble. This time, though, it’s not her mum or Christians who are kicking off about I Kissed A Girl – it’s a load of schoolteachers. Three cheerleaders at a high school in Texas have been suspended after they performed a routine to the song at a recent football match (the football with shoulder pads and odd-shaped balls, not the kind with David Beckham’s perfectly-shaped balls). The routine (which didn’t involve any girl-on-girl cheerleader action. Sorry, boys) went down a storm with students, but spoilsport teachers decided the song was “inappropriate” and has banned them from the squad. “We liked the song, we liked to twirl to it,” says disgraced pom-pom waver Jordan Downey. “It was fun. There was no backdoor meaning. We just wanted to twirl.” Aww, Jordan, we just wanna twirl too.
