Amy Winehouse's dad blasts Jean Paul Gaultier 'tribute'

When we first saw these pics we had to rub our eyes in amazement. Surely it's a bit too soon to be mimicking late singer Amy Winehouse on the catwalks?

Jean Paul Gaultier's show at Paris Fashion Week yesterday was supposed to be a tribute to Amy Winehouse. Instead her dad Mitch has said his family are 'shocked' by the collection which featured models dressed remarkably similar to the late singer.

Jean Paul used Amy's love of the fifties as inspiration for his latest collection. As well as pieces inspired by the late singer, the designer took the controversial decision to give the models big Amy-style beehives and her trademark flicked eyeliner.

Mitch Winehouse has spoken out saying he and his family find the 'tribute' distressing.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Mitch said, "The family was upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. We're still grieving for her loss, and we've had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary."

Mitch also said that no-one had offered to make a donation to the fund he set up in his daughter's name, The Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Gaultier still believes his show was a great tribute to Amy saying, "She was an icon of fashion and truly, the sense of how she mixed the clothes - it was great."

What do you think, heatworlders, was the show a tribute to Amy's memory or is it just too soon after her tragic death to use the singer as creative inspiration?

The only thing I agree with is that it was wrong of JPG not to consult the Winehouse family before doing this tribute. Maybe Mitch should take him up on that, but I think he should see it for the tribute it was meant to be, and yes, JPG should have donated to the Foundation. Mitch said that he felt this collection and the catwalk show portrayed Amy at her worst. I don't agree, JPG could have had them staggering blind drunk down the catwalk carting bottles of vodka and bags of cocaine with them. Mitch may have then had a point. Amy wasn't the only star to have had battles with drink and drugs, nor will she be the last. She was actually trying to beat her demons at the time of her death, but sadly, it was too late.

http://www.amywinehousefoundation.co.uk/lioness-hidden-treasures If you look on the righthand side it says "£1 from every copy will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation." I really liked Amy and drug addict / alcoholic / famous or not no one deserves to die that like. I just felt that releasing that album could have waited a bit a but longer and all money (taking out costs) could have gone to the foundation.

i;m a little shocked by the comments. she has a very unique style. i don't think you could call it skankie. she died of an accidental overdose of drink not druges. she was not a "druggie" at the time of death. he's lettin his feelins be known. he's a loud mouth just like she was and that's how he goes (admittedly he has def gone too far sometimes) but he's just lettin it be known that he did not approve of it. fair enough. and rach how do you know what percentage went to the fondation?? i'm geniunely curious.

I think the collection was probably meant as a huge compliment, but to me the models look a bit creepy. And I agree with everyone below Mitch Winehouse needs to go and grieve properly IN PRIVATE!!

But it was't too soon to rush out an album in time for Christmas (with only a small percent going to the foundation)

The fact he even spoke to The Sun says it all, its the most downmarket newspaper in the country, well, maybe just about coming second to the Daily Star! As others have said, she always looked like a dirty skank anyway, why would anyone want to dress like that? Talented admittedly, but she threw it all away for drink and drugs, its time to stop idolising her, legend my arse!

Yeah I don't see his point? He doesn't want to see tributes of her in the media, yet he is quick to jump in and make comments to the Sun.

Mich really does need to grieve in private because when he does in the papers his grief seems to be overshadowed by his desire for fame and have to his name at the forefront of everyones mind.

Bad taste - she was always skanky looking anyroad. Any chance of Mitch grieving without thrusting himself into the limelight?
