Adele and Christina Hendricks to thank for larger mannequins!

Hurrah! It seems that the surge of popularity for curvier female singers and actresses has led to an increase in demand for larger mannequins for stores throughout the UK.

The new mannequins will reflect the shape of the ‘new normal’ women, and reflect the size of the nation’s hourglass figure, which is said to stand at 12-14. So when we look in a shop window now we may actually be able to picture ourselves in those outfits!

Singer Adele and actress Christina Hendricks are just some of the women to mention for this celebration of curvier figures.

The new orders may come as a shock to designer Karl Lagerfeld, especially after his recent statement that singer Adele is "a little too fat", left most of the nation outraged.

A display spokesman says,

“Curves are back and set to stay this spring/summer…Lagerfeld may want size zero on his catwalk but the commercial viability of the growing plus-size clothing market is being seized by high street chains and independent retailers alike.”

This is good news for us, as we were still trying to think of excuses to keep all of this Christmas weight.  This surge in popularity could mean that next year’s LFW might introduce a whole new set of versatile lines.

'Hourglass' means having a waist 10 inches smaller than your bust and hips, it is not a euphemism for fat. Also, average height is 5'4", so anything over a size 12 generally does mean overweight. 'Average' doesn't mean the same as 'normal' and a few too many people cling to the fact they're under a size 16 as a sign they're ok. You don't have to vilify overweight people, but this kind of article only leads to women bashing other women who are slimmer than them, and not addressing their own health issues. Ignore the mannequins and get your BMI below 25.

It's not plus-size, it's quite normal! If we've got more celebs like Adele and Christina around, some of us might not have a complex about our size.
