Remember that whole hoo-ha over Laura getting voted off The X Factor instead of Ruth? And Austin getting the boot so early on? And Diana being allowed through even though she was off sick? In fact, do you even remember who these people are at all? We hope so, otherwise you’ll find this story very boring indeed. The X Factor has been cleared of vote-fixing by Ofcom today, after nearly 1, 000 viewers complained about not being able to get through when they tried to keep their favourites in – and the media watchdog has also ruled, after an extensive investigation, that keeping Diana on the show was totally fair after all. “Putting Diana through to the following week presented no possibility of material harm to viewers and as such rested entirely with the broadcaster and production team,” says a spokesperson. “The data available to Ofcom did not indicate shortcomings in the series design, editorial judgment or administrative and technical arrangements such that viewers’ or callers’ interests were abused.” In short – quit whinging, people, it was all totally fair. Although we’re not entirely sure what they’d do now if they decided it had all got buggered up – we don’t think Alexandra would take too kindly to her record deal being taken away after all this time, do you?!
