After his sensational exit from the X Factor this weekend, Wagner has hit out at mentor Louis Walsh for giving him all the wrong songs. Wagner tells X Magazine:
“The trouble was Louis gave me fast songs in English so I had tremendous difficulty learning the lyrics.
“My main language is Portuguese so because of that and the schedule of the show I didn’t have enough time to rehearse and practice.
“English isn’t my first language, I struggled.”
Did you Wagner? We hadn’t noticed. He quotes his performance of Viva Las Vegas as being his worst song choice, saying “It was fast and meaningless. I didn’t want to sing some of the lyrics either.”
Come on now, Wagner. You aren’t the only X Factor contestant whose been given dodgy song choices. Let us not forget Nicolo Festa’s rather questionable performance of Just Dance earlier in the series and anything by Series 4 contestants Same Difference.
Wagner admitted “there were some bad times”, namely singing Bat Out of Hell “out of time” and Viva Las Vegas “in the wrong key”.
He then went on to justify his talents, saying “The songs that can really show my voice like La Fortuna and The Wonder Of You and Creep, I sang them well because I can connect with the emotion. Songs like She Bangs, I can’t feel that.”
We can understand (to an extent) all this ‘connecting to the song’ malarky they keep going on about this series, but we’re not sure anyone is supposed to ‘connect’ with She Bangs...
