When my manager West asked me if I would like to attend the European premiere of "Breaking Down - Part 1" I jumped at the chance. After all I have been an enthusiastic motorist and member if the AA for many years. Imagine my surprise therefore when, upon arriving at the Vue Cinema a shopping centre in East London last night, I was greeted with a wailing wall of over 5,000 hysterical girls.
It transpires that the film I was about to see was the 3rd in a series all about Vampires and starring someone called Reaps.
After entertaining the crowds with my megaphone and posing for the cameras - and answering a bewildering array of questions we made our way into the cinema and took our seats.
Technically superb and well acted it certainly was - but having not seen the first two in the series - I was left perplexed by its obvious appeal to the majority of the audience last night.
Well I guess when you turn up expecting to see a film about the history of breakdown recovery and instead are confronted with blood thirsty vampires and people who morph into slavering wolves at the slightest provocation - then perhaps my surprise should come as no surprise.

The aftershow premiere party was held on the 11th and 12th floors of an empty office building next door to the cinema.
I was pleased to see two of the lads from McFly there, Karen Brady off of the Apprentice there and of course Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner (who by this time had ditched her high heels) and of course Robert Pattinson himself. The bar was doing good business but the large Bloody Mary I had promised myself earlier in the evening somehow didn't now seem so appealing.
I am sure the Twivvies or whatever they are called will love this movie, but rather like Bella's appearance on the hospital operating table - it left me cold.
