You know when your mum tells you to ‘do something with your hair’ and you have a massive strop and cut it all off (we’ve been there, done that), well it seems Louis Walsh has definitely had one of those days this year. Except it wasn’t his family telling him to sort his hair out – it was his good pal, Simon Cowell. And so he did it - and spent £30,000 in the process!
According to Louis, Simon pointed out that he was thinning on top – which led to the X Factor judge to have the secret hair transplant back in August. Of course, it wasn’t so secret when the series began because we all noticed Louis had a whole lot more hair than he did this time last year. But now Mr Walsh has opened up about it saying it was Si-Co’s balding jokes that convinced him do it.
“He came up to me and said ‘You know, you’re starting to lose your hair dear’,” Louis revealed to The Mirror. “I said, ‘I am not dear. And anyway, you’re going grey.’”
But Cowell, never one to not have the last word came back with a certain “Darling. You are. You’re losing your hair.”
So off Louis went off to seek the services of a Dr Collins at London’s Harley Street, saying, “I could have just left it and got on with things but with TV today, everything is in high definition and people notice every little thing. And if you’re getting on, and you’re on TV with a lot of young people, you have to look after yourself. So I thought ‘I don’t want a bald spot. I’m going to get this sorted’.”
And now he claims he loves his hair so much that he’s trying to get Gary Barlow to get a mop transplant too.
“I keep telling Gary he needs it next,” Louis laughed. “I always clock him glancing at my hair on the show. I’m giving Gary the number so hopefully he can get that bald patch at the back of his head sorted out.”
Oh men and their bald spots, eh? Well we know Gazza B is totally welcoming his thinning spots because he made it into a big joke at his solo charity gig earlier this week. But we wonder if he’ll consider it when that number is in his hand… Hmm!
