He might not look too happy in this photo, but Steve Jones has spoken out about the whole sorry state of affairs of being axed from The X Factor USA by graciously tweeting, “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame… but I cant complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”
Steve has, however, had a while to get used to the idea. Rumours of his dismissal have been circulating since last December, although the official news came yesterday. But even Fox chief Kevin Reilly has been hinting there would be some serious changes to come.
“The hosting gig, the only thing I will say, is, as we know, a much harder job than meets the eye," he recently commented. "I think everyone has come to realise the value of a Ryan Seacrest. So whether Steve's the guy or not, it comes under the heading of 'growth' in general."

Of course Nicole and Paula have yet to confirm the news that they too have been axed, as we told you in the 9 O'Clock news this morning. But we reckon that's because Paula is still thrashing it out with Simon – she doesn’t seem like the kind of lady who would take it lying down.
But it really does look like there will be a sparkly new line up on the next season of the show. Rumours have already started doing the rounds the Mariah Carey is in talks to sign up and we have to wonder who else Mr Cowell has got up his sleeve. And well done LA Reid for holding on to his coveted spot on the panel.
So tell us, who would you like to see take over Steve’s presenting role? Could this be the return of the Seacrest? Or have you got someone better in mind to fill Scherzy and Paula’s high-heeled shoes? And.. does this mean Steve and Nicole will finally get it on? Spill below please heatworlders.
Now we just need to wait on the UK line up for 2012…
