She’s got one of the most enviable jobs in Hollywood, but Britney Spears believes that landing a spot on the X Factor USA judging panel was all down to fate.
Britney made a joke to her make-up artist, who used to work with Simon, about appearing on the talent show.
Soon after this little chat the Womaniser star got a phone call from the big man himself, offering her the highly coveted job.
"[Simon] was absolutely adorable on the phone, and he is so sweet. My make-up artist used to do his make-up, and we were joking around about me doing it,” Britney told TV Guide magazine.
“So I guess it was one of those meant to be things.”

Music mogul Simon was quick to compliment Britney and fellow judge Demi Lovato, adding that he has no regrets about hiring the ladies.
“It’s quite difficult sometimes when you’ve got singers judging other singers, because they can be selfish,” Simon said.
“And I’ve watched this very carefully; these two want to find a star.”
Despite having Simon’s full support, Demi,19, admits she was scared at first about being such a young judge.
“I was nervous at first because it’s not like I have the experience that L.A., Simon and Britney have. But I know how hard people have to work to get to where they want to be, and I can spot somebody who has talent and who’s memorable and could be a pop star.
“I really feel like being the first young judge on any of these vocal competition shows is a lot of pressure, but at the same time, it’s great because I get to bring in a perspective from the audience that’s around my age.”
