
As former X Factor stars go, Jedward are actually pretty successful – but are they also one of the most influential acts as well? The hyperactive twins seem to think so…
Speaking on ITV1's Lorraine this morning, John and Edward reckon that thanks to them The X Factor became less about finding singing talent and more about finding a ‘brand’.
“The year me and John were on The X Factor it was all about the voice and everyone was like ‘oh it’s all about the singing,’ now they want to find, like, stars,” reckons Edward. “They want to find like people who are different.”
“I think me and Ed singlehandedly recreated The X Factor show,” continues John. “We made it, like, to try and find somebody who is not just a singer but someone who is everything – someone who is able to sing, dance…”

“Someone who has a lot of potential, someone who’s not just about singing someone who can do like everything, become like a brand,” concludes Edward.
And when it comes to being a brand Jedward think the brand name is essential,
“So you’ve got to have a really, really cool brand name like Jedward – it’s just Jedward,” says John.
The boys also seem to think that Mel B is on their wavelength with the sort of act she was looking for during her scary stint as a guest judge on Saturday’s show,
“I think Mel B is looking for, she’s looking for somebody really, really cool, got cool hair, cool attitude,” says John.
We can’t help but think that John and Edward were lucky that Mel B wasn’t a judge when they auditioned, cool hair or not.
