The X Factor 2012: Audition show two - Nicole Scherzinger calls Newcastle a Talent Free Zone

We don’t think Nicole Scherzinger will be a very popular lady in Newcastle today, after branding the city a TFZ… thats a Talent Free Zone.

To be fair, from what we saw she had a god point. Lucky there was some great talent in London and Manchester, and one stand-out audition in TFZ Newcastle.

So what made Nicole say, “I came from Los Angeles for this... I expected more from Newcastle. TFZ, it's a Talent-Free Zone.”

The Bad

We loved 41-year-old Billy – who in his own words both “murdered” and “killed” Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing with his bellowing version of the soft rock classic.

“I can’t understand it, because when I was practising in the car park this afternoon it sounded fine,” Billy said.

While 16-year-old Sophie had a big vocal but a small amount of talent. She performed a Jennifer Hudson track and left the judges unimpressed.

“Well, let me start off by saying you Sophie, are a beautiful girl, I’m not going to lie, you have power and projection. Unfortunately we were missing the pitch and the tone, yeah, you need all of those things,” said Nicole as kindly as she could.

The Good

Of course, there was plenty of talent on The X Factor stage. We loved 30-year-old chimney sweep Kye. His mash up of Whose Going To Save The World Tonight and RIP wowed the judges.

And it just so happened that RIP singer Rita Ora was a guest judge on the show, and she loved Kye’s version of the song.

“Kye, Oh my gosh. You made RIP sound so cool man! Can I tell you something….you’re a superstar! You’re an actual superstar,” Rita said.

Rita wasn’t the only judge who was treated to new version of their own song. Newcastle’s best audition came from 24-year-old reformed bad boy James. He sang Tulisa ContostavlosYoung, mixed up with his own lyrics.

“James when you’re up there I just see you get lost in that world, it’s just you, the microphone, the guitar, best audition of the day,” an emotional Tulisa told him.

The Funny

Last night also saw Lucy Spraggan audition. As we already know she’s now storming the iTunes chart. We loved Lucy and her self-penned song Last Night. Even hard to please guest judge Mel B was a fan! She made us laugh with her hilarious lyrics funny banter,

“I absolutely loved it! You don’t know how great you are, that’s what’s endearing as well, you’ve got like a little bit of vulnerability about you, be confident, you are brilliant,” Scary Spice raved.
