Remember a while back when it was revealed that Cheryl Cole’s niece had auditioned for The X Factor?
It became one of the most talked about stories to emerge from the auditions as they happened earlier in the summer. Cheryl Cole’s NIECE auditioning for the very show that Cheryl had left! Wow.
Now that all the auditions have been screened on the TV, you might have noticed that Melissa Armstrong – who auditioned for the show in Newcastle – didn’t actually make it on to the air.
The 21-year-old singer is disappointed that given her connection to the show that she didn’t get her 15 minutes of fame,
“I have no idea what’s going but it doesn’t look like I am going to appear,” Melissa has told The Sun.
No, it doesn’t. Unless there’s one more sneaky audition show that ITV have kept secret.

Melissa even sang Cheryl’s hit Promise This, and divided the judges, getting a yes from Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger and nos from Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow.
Surely all of that would have made for good TV?
A family friend has revealed that everyone (we wonder if that includes Chezza?) is disappointed that Melissa has been snubbed by The X Factor,
“Everybody is angry that Melissa’s audition has been scrapped.. She gave a really good performance and believed she would be featured in the audition shows,” the friend said. “If anything, Melissa is a better singer than Cheryl. It’s so unfair.”
Well, there's always next year.
