We’ve been surprised by this year’s X Factor makeovers. Surprised because they’ve been so un-radical!
All the contestants just look like glossier versions of themselves, or in the case of Lucy Spraggan a cleaner version. Her words, not ours.
“We’ve already gone through it [the makeovers], I think it’s a little more subtle this year,” Lucy has said on GMTV.
“I said I just want to look a little bit cleaner,” the pop hopeful laughed.
While 16-year-old Ella Henderson added, “I think it’s about just making us a bit more polished, just exaggerating what we’ve already come on the show with.” Indeed.
Tulisa on the X Factor makeovers
The girls’ mentor Tulisa Contostavlos agreed that her group didn’t need bold new looks this year and insisted that she wants her girls to feel comfortable whey they perform,
“Some people want to change more, they look forward to the makeover and want to do something drastic. Whereas these girls all really know what they are about and how they want to be perceived as an artist.
“I don’t want to change that if they are comfortable in their own skin. I just go with it.”
