When Sharon Osbourne said their name sounded like a virus, the whole nation had to agree. And now The X Factor’s GMD3 have decided it’s time for a change, but they need your help.
The boys – Greg West, Mickey Parsons and Dan Ferrari-Lane (yes, Ferrari-Lane is his real name) – are keen to change their name before the live shows start on Saturday, because no-one can remember it. Plus the whole virus thing…
Ever since their life-changing trip to Las Vegas, where group mentor Louis Walsh picked them for his final three, the boys have been trying to come up with a new name. But they still haven’t thought of anything they feel happy with.
Greg, 18, said: “We’ve decided we need a new name as no-one can remember it, including Louis and Sharon when we were in Vegas, so that wasn’t a good start!”
‘People think we’re called GMTV!’
The boys before their fancy-pants makeover
As if sounding like a virus wasn’t bad enough, the fellas also keep getting mistaken for early morning TV show, GMTV.
Mickey, 18, added: “The original name was the letters of our first names with a three for the number of us in the group, but people keep thinking we are called GMTV! It also means we always have to stand in Greg, Mickey and Dan order and we keep forgetting so that’s confusing everyone as well!”
Dan, 19, said: “We have three days to come up with a new name so the pressure is on. If anyone suggests a name we like we’ll use it and The X Factor have promised the person who comes up with it will get a special prize. Ok, I made that up about the prize but now I have said it they’ll have to won’t they?!”
So do you think you’ve got the perfect name for the boys?
If so, email your suggestions to: xfactor@fremantlemediauk.com. All suggestions need to be made by midday on Wednesday 3 October. If the boys like any of the suggestions, they’ll pick one and re-name themselves in time for Saturday’s live show.
