Although she wowed the judges' panel and the fans on The X Factor this weekend, social worker Tammy Cartwright has confirmed that she's dropped out because of her brother's drug problems.
She said that she is "the only one who can control him" and that she left Boot Camp after "panicking" that Gareth wouldn't manage without her.
"He takes up a lot of my time, mentally. I'm just constantly worried about him…[at Boot Camp] he had a lapse and I just started panicking."
In the interview with Digital Spy, she said: "For me to continue and be happy enough to continue, he would have to have been clean. [My brother is] like my child… I'm the only person that can control him and I'm the only person who can get through to him."
But she said her departure is more to do with her control-freakery than his drug problem: "And in a way me walking off that show wasn't just because my brother's on drugs, it wasn't about that.
"It was me panicking about everything…not being in control of the competition…which made it really difficult for me to focus."
What a shame…but we're sure Tammy's going to be happier now that she's back in control of herself and her future.
In other X Factor-related news, MOBO and Mercury award nominee Jessie Ware has admitted that she treats the show as something of a guilty pleasure. She told Heat at the MOBO awards nominations: "I really like The X Factor. I try and stop myself watching it but I always watch it."
"I think it’s different – I remember how it used to be, I always remember Pop Idol in the day and Will Young winning it, and that made me really happy . It’s always exciting when you hear a great singer."
