This was a little out of character for Gary Barlow? He told Tulisa Contostavlos on The X Factor last night that she had ‘fag ash breath.’ A tad childish on Gary’s part if we do say so ourselves. What has Tulisa’s breath got to do with the contestants singing?
It seems Gary’s quick tongue couldn’t handle the heat and so he said the first thing that came to his mind. After his act, Christopher Maloney, performed, Tulisa said, “Gary, how many of these eighties classics are you going to let him keep destroying?”
Gary’s somewhat feeble reply was, “I don't know what's offended me more, what you said or the fag ash breath!”
Dermot O'Leary to the rescue! As he attempted to get on with the show and speak to Christopher, Tulisa interrupted, “Just a note for Gary, lay off the red wine because I can really smell that as well.”
Later on Gary said, “Can I apologise to Tulisa, I mean it. You have the freedom to be as personal as you like to me for the rest of the series, insult me.”
Tulisa told The Xtra Factor that Gary once said he 'loved' the smell of cigarettes because it reminded him of the days he used to smoke.
The usually feisty lady held her cool quite well considering Gary’s odd remark. Although it seems Gary is not off the hook. When Tulisa was asked if she accepted Gary's apology, she said, “No, not yet.” Uh oh! Cruising for a bruising Gary!
Also just in case you’re interested, aside from the irrelevant judge’s banter, below is the clip of Christopher performing Cutting Crew's Died In Your Arms.
