Last night Carolynne Poole became the first casualty of the X Factor evictions.

After fluffing up his decision of who should be sent home: Carolynne or Rylan Clark, and frustrating Dermot O’Leary to the point where he almost had steam coming out of his ears, Louis Walsh finally chose to send the decision to deadlock, which in turn, meant 32-year-old Carolynne had to give up on her dreams of winning The X Factor 2012.

But despite her mentor Gary Barlow storming off and claiming the whole thing was a joke, Carolynne says she doesn’t resent Louis for sending her home.

"It’s really weird because I like Louis, I really do, I've still got a soft spot for Louis - you know what he's like, he's been like that forever,” Carolynne said on This Morning.

“And as soon as I was in the bottom two with Rylan I thought 'that's it' because I know the show love Rylan and Rylan's one of my friends since boot camp and I really don't like that its created an opportunity for people to be really nasty to Rylan because he is nice.”

Gary storms off

When asked what Gary was saying to her last night, Carolynne said: “Gary was fuming. We couldn't really talk properly because we get dragged everywhere afterwards but I didn't want to look at him too much because I was getting upset, I felt like I'd let him down a bit you know?”

Country singer Carolynne admitted she was devastated to be the first act out of the competition.

“I'm still gutted - I've had about two hours sleep and I woke up this morning thinking 'did that just happen'?... and yep, it did!

“I went into X Factor knowing exactly what I was getting myself into - I love the show as a viewer, I love to watch it, I love to talk about it, and ultimately I did get the lowest votes. But I'm glad that I did what I did.”
