X Factor star Lucy Spraggan received the devastating news that her grandma Marjorie had passed away on Sunday night, just hours after seeing Lucy sail through to next week’s show.
Lucy was too upset to attend rehearsals after hearing the news on Monday, and headed straight to Kent to be with her grieving granddad James.
Marjorie passed away in her sleep.
Lucy took to Twitter to tell her 250,000 followers that she was unable to interact with them because of her sad news.
“I'm really sorry to say I won't be doing a twitcam today, I had some really sad news this morning. Thank you to everyone for the support.”
Lucy, 21, returned to rehearsals yesterday afternoon, but is said to be shocked by her grandma’s passing.
Marjorie had recently suffered with poor health but was on the mend and was expected to make a full recovery.
“She was so proud to see me singing”

Lucy said: “She was a great woman – my nanny and granddad were together for more than fifty years so I just really want to be around to support him and my family at this time.
“My granddad is an amazingly strong and kind man and they loved each other very much. She’s at peace now and that’s comforting to know.
“She was so proud to see me singing and I’m glad that I made her smile. She’ll be greatly missed.”
“A show source said: “Lucy is back with the other contestants but we are giving her as much time as she needs to go and see her family at this sad time.”
Our thoughts are with Lucy and her family and this sad time.
