Jahmene Douglas has caused chaos on The X Factor after refusing to sing Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night for the group song on Sunday night’s show.
The teetotal 20-year-old has said he doesn’t want to sing Katy’s smash hit because it glorifies drinking alcohol.
The lyrics include: “Last Friday night. Yeah, we danced on table tops. And we took too many shots. Think we kissed but I forgot.”
Jahmene’s refusal has meant that X Factor producers have had to come up with another idea for the six remaining acts to perform.
An insider said: “Bosses are desperately trying to find a new song for this weekend’s group ensemble after Jahmene’s refusal.
“The six remaining acts were supposed to perform Last Friday Night but Jahmene has said no. The song is about partying and drinking and Jahmene is teetotal.
“He has made it clear from the start that he won’t sing songs about drinking and when he heard this track he was adamant he wouldn’t perform it.
Respecting Jahmene's wishes
“Bosses have respected his wishes and it’s all hands on deck to get a new song ready in time for Sunday.”
But this isn’t the first time Jahmene’s teetotal lifestyle has come up.
“Even at judges’ houses, when he was given a glass of champagne to hold, he refused to even have it in his hand.
And he most definitely did not enjoy fellow contestant Rylan Clark’s boozey birthday do.
“When all the contestants went out for Rylan’s birthday party he really didn’t like it.”
