Exclusive! What the contestants said about Christopher Maloney missing The X Factor final

So you may have noticed that Christopher Maloney was nowhere to be seen during the X Factor final last night.

He's claiming he wasn't around because he had a sore throat but reports are claiming the shaky Liverpudlian turned up to rehearsals drunk.

The 34-year-old arrived for the run-through of the group song "clearly drunk", according to sources.

He then flew off the handle when he realised he only had one line in the song. After that he failed to turn up for a second rehearsal.

The source said: "He showed up wanting to go on stage but they had to turn him away as they were already on stage and he missed the dress rehearsal."

He said he wanted to go home to Liverpool, and he headed back to the hotel to pack his bags.

An X Factor spokesman said: "Chris decided he no longer wanted to be part of The X Factor final and has gone back to Liverpool."

But on his way to the hotel he ran into fellow Over 28, Carolynne Poole, and had a row with her.

He later tweeted: "@CarolynnePoole you'll do anything to get a headline! disgraceful! week one! bitter."

Fellow contestants have their say

Carolynne Poole

We spoke to Carolynne at the final last night.

"I've not had a chance to look on Twitter. I'll have a look now. I'm really disappointed actually. I was really upset earlier. I just don't want to bring any embarrassment to Gary, that's all."

But she's not the only one getting fed up with Christopher.

Speaking about him missing the final, Jaymi Hensley from Union J said: "I was very disappointed. I've stuck up for Chris a lot this series, understood him and had a good relationship, but I was a bit disappointed."

And you can always rely on Rylan Clark to give an honest answer.

After calling Christopher a very rude word, Rylan told us: "I'm not going to sit here and talk about Chris Maloney but everything that is being said is right. At the end of the day I've ended this series on a high, started the same person I finished and that's what I'm proud of. Some people get too big for their boots - that's entirely up to them."
