Nicole Scherzinger got a little bit excited with this guy as half way through his audition she shouts, "Go on! Shake it! Yeah!" - almost on the verge of inappropriate! Sorry Nic, but it did sound a bit weird.
Simon Cowell tweeted, “X factor back tonight. It’s very funny. We may have the biggest X factor plonker. Phil spelt with an F. Plus a future star.” The 30-year-old guitar teacher, who still lives with his parents, went through to the next round with a bizarre rendition of Robbie Williams’s Let Me Entertain You.
But his performance did not impress judge Sharon Osbourne. "Phil with an F" was told he needed to give his image a rocky new edge. Speaking before his audition, he said, “Sharon is definitely the queen of rock music and I would love to get her on-side. People don't take enough risks in the music industry.
“I'm living in Maidenhead with my parents, my mum last night made me some cheese sandwiches.” Sharon told him, “It's pop music that you do, it's not rock. And you're very clean, you see. Everything is nicely washed and pressed. But the hair is quite fabulous.”
The came on stage as Silver Rock but they got quickly told by Gary Barlow, "It's an interesting one this one because you bother have nice voices, but I'm a little bit confused as to why you're standing together is all."
Last night’s show saw the judges put 16-year-old Tamera Foster through after telling her to split from her 22-year-old singing partner Jerrie.
They were each asked to sing a song on their own.
The south London teen, Tamera, wowed the panel with a rendition of Fallin' by Alicia Keys. An insider said, “Tamera is only 16 but she is the star of the show after splitting from her band mate.”
Jerrie sang Beyonce's Listen and although it was a difficult decision for the judges they put these ladies through as solo artists.
All "happy, happy, joy, joy" as Dermot O'Leary said but now the duo will be competing against each other so it'll be interesting to see how this one pans out.
Sam Bailey, once sang Beyonce's Lisen last night and if you didn't watch it the first time round, make sure you have your tissues quickly at hand for this one!
Queen Bey if you're listening, CHECK THIS WOMAN OUT!
Her performance shut the judges right up with the shock of her stirring voice.
Nicole actually managed to muster a "what?!" at her enthusiasm for Sam's voice.
Prison officer, Sam once sang Adele’s hit Someone Like You for up to 15 lifers at HMP Gartree, Leics. The jail is home to killers and paedophiles, and previous inmates include Moors murderer Ian Brady and gangland killer Reggie Kray. The 35-year-old, mum-of-two Sam said, “I was the music officer. They asked me to sing. I felt a bit uncomfortable, but you need to interact with prisoners. They know that I auditioned. They’ll be able to watch and see how I do.”
One of the most emotional performances of the night came from 17-year-old student Hannah Barrett, who broke down in tears as she spoke to judges Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.
She said, “I wanna be the UK's sweetheart. I like the A-levels I'm doing at school, it's OK. I work in Gregg's part-time, but my dream has always been to be a singer. My dad passed away a couple of years ago and my dad was my inspiration from a young age with music. My mum is supportive of me but we have a tough relationship. Me and my mum don't really get along, eventually I was kicked out and so basically I live in accommodation for young teenagers. I'm happy being there but it's not home.”
This young man is ONLY 17 years old, 17!
Although he doesn't sing like you might expect a 17-year-old to sing, there was a lot of head nods from the judges for Luke Friend last night.
He impressed the judging panel with a rendition of Stand By Me at the Cardiff leg of the auditions - but not so much with his personal hygiene. Discussing his barnet with the judges, Luke joked, “It's real but it looks fake, I haven't washed it in like nine months. I just want to get out of Devon, I've been gigging there for a while now.”
Winning four yes votes from the panel, Sharon enthused to the teen, “I'm crazy about you, you're quite fabulous.”
Gary added, “I can't wait to see you at the arenas. Great performance.”
Nicole said, “You are just a little dirty-haired diamond in the rough.”
These two were separate auditions but are both football coaches for kids who we loved!
Tom Mannwho sang Passenger’s Only Know while accompanying himself on guitar, had a very singer songwriter feel to his performance.
The 19-year-old had the judges split for the first time in the competition though.
Gary enjoyed it but Nicole had some reservations and said, “I don’t know how much you’re going to stand out if you get to the next stage of this audition in front of 4,000 people.”
However, on a more positive note she added, “There is just something about you that I like.”
Gary insisted, “The potential is all there and I am quite excited about you as a solo artist.”
The 17-year-old Alejandro Fernandez, who sang Perfect by Pink, told his Facebook followers, “I know what I’m trying to do is nearly impossible but I believe with the effort and right amount of support I could achieve something which I have only dreamt of doing since I was a kid.”
Erm...yeah...uh...no, just no! There are actually not many words to best describe this one, you just need to see it to believe it.
This 19-year-old could most definitely give Meat Loaf a run for his money with his bizarre rendition of Hallelujah.
Not everyone receives such acclaim from the panel as model J-Star Valentine, who was told by Sharon that he sang like a “ghost”.
After performing complete with shouting and facial expressions, Sharon and Louis positively fell about laughing.
J-Star said, “I think I could be the next big thing. I'm sure I can win. I want people to talk about me.” But his dreams were swiftly dashed when Sharon said, “You sang that song like a ghost, it was strange.” Louis added, “I've heard a lot of versions of that song, but nothing as strange as that.”
A baffled Nicole stated, “Were you serious? We're not connecting the dots right now.”
Ok so we think this guy sang A New Day Has Come by Celine DIon, or at least he was supposed to!
Student, Dudley Gowan, was told he sounded like a “dolphin”. Sharon told the 30-year-old, “You sing like a dolphin. Have you ever watched Flipper? He could get a job at Sea World.”
MOST definitely don't give up the day job Dudley...unless of course your day job is a dolphin impersonator!
Please make the noise stop!
Some performances from last nights' episode made us turn the volume down on our TVs.
Duo Raluca and Christina couldn't even appear to remember the words to their track. Gary told them, “It was like someone was slowly pulling their nails down a blackboard.”
Anyone with a guitar will do well on The X Factor and this is no exception.
Although a little mundane it was a sweet performance from Justin Bieber impersonator, Luke Britnell.
He received a resounded four yes votes from the panel. The 19-year-old said, “I just wanna make a name for myself, I don't wanna spend the rest of my life as a Justin Bieber tribute act.”
