She’s been in hiding for years, living out on a ranch in Texas, but 53-year-old Madeleine Stowe is so pretty that she shouldn’t be anywhere but in front of a camera. Playing icily evil matriarch in glamorous US drama Revenge, she gets to try out a huge range of tense smiles and frosty glares, as well as wear some beautiful dresses. To say we’re jealous is a proper understatement – a bit like saying Revenge is just a little bit awesome.
This 52-year-old cook recently lost weight following – wait for it – double bunion surgery. The painful growths, mostly suffered by ladies old enough to smell of talcum powder, had made her too lazy to exercise off all that food she gorges on. However, men love Nigella whatever size she is, as long as she’s curvy. And she’s got that extra padding to thank for such youthful skin – we’ve seen teenagers with more wrinkles!
This 67-year-old doesn’t exactly look young – but she still looks great! Loads of people think so – only last year, an LA Fitness poll named her the Body of the Year award, and fellow older beauty, Joan Collins, has praised her for being a role model for growing old gracefully. She’s spoken out against plastic surgery loads, saying that, although it’s every person’s choice, that: “The purity of youthful beauty is so fantastic to me that it’s horrific when young girls get fake things.”
The 58-year-old actress makes us totally sick. She is old enough to be our mums but looks young enough to be our younger, fitter sister! The blonde beauty still turns head with her jaunts down the catwalk, but it might not be all natural – after her daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, got a nose job, it was rumoured that Christie had had a facelift, too. But a spokesperson for the family said “throughout her career people have speculated that she's done this or that, which she always chooses to take as a compliment.”
The Jubilee concert saw old and crusty men – Paul McCartney, Elton John and Stevie Wonder – perform so badly and look so ropey that we started questioning whether we could still refer to them as “living” legends. Just to hit it home, 64-year-old Grace Jones blew them all out of the water/prune juice, by performing Slave To The Rhythm – a 4 minute, 20 second long song – while spinning a hula hoop around her waist throughout. She broke the tiniest of sweats, and showed off toned thighs to make Rihanna proud.
If there were shares in bone structure, you’d just know that Julianne Moore would own at least half of them. The 51-year-old actress has certainly improved with age – she only saw mainstream success with 1997’s Boogie Nights, when she was 37 and has continued to look fabulous, baring all again for the hilarious sex scenes in 2011’s The Kids Are All Right. She recommends that everyone, not only gingers like herself, “stay out of the sun” to stop ageing. You’ve been told!
Say what you like about the 54-year-old popstar, but she is fit as a fiddle. She seems to be helped out (or destroyed, depends how you look at it) by facial fillers, but her body is 100% natural and functions incredibly well – she dances harder in one night than we have in our entire lifetimes. A dedicated fitness freak since the 80s, jogging turned into yoga, which she’s been devoted to since the mid-90s. She’s also clean-living, relying on macrobiotic diets and drinking very little. Though she’s smoked, she “never inhaled”!
This 54-year-old actress and model seems to have frozen in stone (geddit!) since the mid-90s. She looks EXACTLY the same! She’s admitted to dabbling with plastic surgery, and had lip injections because she felt she looked too old: “Nobody loved me. I'm 103. My life would be better if I had better lips." But she swore it off after the fillers made her look “like a trout”. As fantastic as she looks from here, she could do with being a bit nicer to fellow actresses – she infamously said Meryl Streep, who’s had no surgery, looks like an “unmade bed”!
