As well as being soapy and beautiful to look at, E4's Revenge has got an edge. As Emily puts it, “this is not a story about forgiveness”.

Opening with Daniel Grayson’s dead body, we think it might be a whole 22 episodes before we find out whodunnit. In the mean time, here's who's who!

The protagonist, played byEmily Van Camp, is around to wreak – yep, you guessed it – Revenge. She’sobviously got a problem with the Graysons, who framed her dad, David and got him put into prison. But she’s got some otherpeople to cross off of her list beforehand…oh, and she used to be called Amanda Clarke.

The Graysons’ pride and joy is back from Harvard Business School for the summer. And he’s brought back some baggage - he got into a serious car accident last summer after drink-driving. He survived, obviously, but his then-girlfriend was badly injured.

A scary-as-hell matriarchwho makes The OC’s Julie Cooper look as tame as a kitten. She lives in thebiggest house imaginable and wants to have everything under her control. She's got more skeletons in her closet than a biology teacher and she will stop at nothing to protect her secrets.

The bit of rough in the series – he works in his dad’s spit n' sawdust bar with his little brother. He’s meant to be sailing to Haiti to do charity work (awww!) but instead sells his boat to Nolan so he can pay off his dad’s debts.

Declan is Jack's tetchy little brother. He doesn't seem to care much about his family, having set his sights on Charlotte Grayson.

She might seem spoiled from the outside, but Charlotte Grayson is, well...spoiled. But no amount of material possessions she has can make up for the lack of affection she's been shown by mum Victoria. At least she's got her dad's attention...

Like Kate Moss, this Croydoner’s made good. After working at the Met with Emily, Ashley (played by Ashley Madekwe) got a gig organising parties and fundraisers, and one of her biggest clients is Victoria Grayson. She knows everyone who's anyone, but has no idea that best friend Emily isn’t who she says she is…

A Zuckerberg-style whizz kid who made serious money with some sort of tech product. One of his investors was David Clarke, who left his 49% share in the company to Emily. He’s the only one who recognises Emily as Amanda. Apart from the dog…
