As 5 Seconds Of Summer prepare to go on tour next year – stopping by in London for two shows as part of their Sounds Live, Feels Live tour – we caught up with the boys backstage at the BBC Teen Awards to ask them what fans can expect.

And since they’ve toured with One Direction for the last three years, we wanted to know whether we could see a solo Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles or Liam Payne joining them as support on the tour.

“No, that would be inappropriate I think,” says 5SOS’s Ashton Irwin. “They will be just fine on their own.” Ouch. And we thought they were mates…

Ashton tells us they’ve just been too busy to keep in touch with the 1D boys, adding: “We don’t actually [speak anymore], we’ve been really busy at the moment. I got a nice message from Harry the other day, he said, ‘congratulations on the number one album’ but that’s about it.” Aww.

Although there are no plans to perform on this year’s X Factor, the boys will be busy preparing for their 2016 tour. “We’re travelling all about for nine months,” says Michael Clifford.

“You have to learn how to adapt while being on the road. We did our first arena tour this year so when we go on tour next year we will know how to live easier and make the show better. The songs we played this year we’ve been playing for two or three years, so it will be really good to play new stuff.

“We flew our families over for the Wembley shows last year and there’s a DVD coming out based around those shows. It tells the stories of the whole band. It's out on November 20, which we’re really excited about.”
